MetalCore, a web3 open-world shooting game, is the first playable title on Immutable zkEVM. According to an official statement, the game’s second closed beta session will run from April 9 to April 22, with player numbers limited.
According to Studio 369 CEO Matt Candler, MetalCore’s first beta generated tremendous player interest, with the top user completing over 800 missions and 13,000 kills. More than 40% of users in the second test were new to the game.
MetalCore is a free-to-play game set in the future, where groups compete for resources in space. Players choose a faction and compete against other players or the environment. While web3 connection is optional, the MCG cryptocurrencycurrency powers in-game economics that allow players to earn MCG and NFTs. Contracts, quests, and guilds all earn you a different “Marks” currency.
Following the current closed beta, MetalCore will be released in an open beta in late 2024 and will be available on PC through the Epic Games Store alongside popular titles such as Fortnite. Immutable zkEVM, which enables smart contracts, released its mainnet in early access this year. It differs from Immutable X, which does not include smart contract capability.
