Layerswap, the key link between layer-2 blockchains and centralized cryptocurrencycurrency exchanges, has effectively recovered its domain. After a risky hack endangered $100,000 in client assets.
In order to gain control, the hacker attempted to compound the problem by deleting Layerswap’s essential Twitter account, depriving them access to social media.
On March 20, around 19:40 UTC, layerswap.io suffered a domain hack that sent unsuspecting clients to a malicious phishing website.
Layerswap remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency and responsibility. Layerswap offers to provide the community with a full report that clarifies the events, notwithstanding GoDaddy’s silence on the reason of the incident.
The hacker’s hold on the domain name was extended until 23:07 UTC due to GoDaddy’s sluggish response, making for an exciting turn of events. Nonetheless, Layerswap reclaimed access with steadfast determination, eliminating the hacker’s misdeeds and restoring order.
The cost was high: approximately 50 users’ wallets were stolen, totaling $100,000. Layerswap, on the other hand, comes up to the plate and provides full reimbursements to affected consumers, plus an additional 10% as a thank you for their patience and understanding.
