ZachXBT, a well-known blockchain expert, has joined as the fourth custodian for a multi-sig wallet containing $63 million in compromised user cash from the GameFi network Munchables.
Munchables creators announced ZachXBT’s onboarding, together with custodians Manifold Trading, Selini Capital, and Munchables itself, ensuring the safe return of user cash. Nethermind will review updated contracts before the platform relaunches.
All consumers’ assets were recovered, and refunds were issued directly to their wallets following the exploit. ZachXBT acknowledged his temporary position in the multi-sig, emphasizing a short-term commitment and signer rotation consistent with club pronouncements.
The developers hinted at “massive multiples on game rewards” for depositors, as well as plans for NFT migration and new features upon re-release. Custodians and assisting users will receive ETH as well as future MUNCH donations.
On March 26, Munchables had a $63 million exploit attributed to a contracted North Korean developer, “Werewolves0943,” who penetrated private wallets. ZachXBT’s post-mortem indicated that the exploiter impersonated Munchables team members, resulting in the restoration of private keys and money access.
As the platform prepares for its relaunch on Blast, Ethereum’s layer-2 network, developers stressed taking advantage of possibilities, quoting Confucius.
