Uni.eth is a new human-readable username system that Uniswap has introduced to streamline web3 addresses across platforms. Uni.eth, which can be found in the Uniswap software, allows users to easily transform 0x wallet addresses into distinctive usernames at no cost.
Along with the customisable app profiles, the Ethereum-based decentralized exchange unveiled its new identity. Web3 apps can be widely compatible with uni.eth usernames thanks to their utilization of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) infrastructure.
Uniswap identifies 0x addresses as a major barrier to blockchain adoption. When transmitting cryptocurrencycurrency or working with contracts, typographical errors might have severe consequences.
A simple substitute that lowers significant obstacles to onboarding new users across DeFi and Web3 is offered via uni.eth usernames. Personalized social network profiles are also made possible by the readable names.
“Onchain addresses that are easy to remember and use across web3 are rendered human-readable by usernames,” according to Uniswap’s blog post.
Uniswap products are not the only Web3 applications that can utilize the ENS system to enable uni.eth username capability. Simplified IDs can be resolved by thousands of apps that are integrated with ENS.
When accessing DeFi exchanges, NFT marketplaces, metaverse worlds, and other blockchain-powered sites, uni.eth users will benefit from a consistent experience.
Overall ENS adoption is still increasing, which bodes well for Uniswap’s new product. Downloading the Uniswap app is the only prerequisite for claiming a personalized uni.eth username. Following that, users are asked to choose a wallet address to link with the readable identity.
Applying an avatar, bio, and social media links is possible on the app in addition to choosing a unique name. The goal of Uniswap is to give users the building blocks to create a unique web3 identity.
Uni.eth might drastically change how people display themselves in online forums as adoption grows. By humanizing blockchain engagement, the change is expected to encourage broader popular uptake.
