Trust Machines, Tucows, and Hiro Systems are now collaborating. The three companies have created a collaborative venture called Orange Domains, with the goal of linking traditional Domain Name Systems (DNS) with Web3 digital identities.
This new business will focus on improving the functionality of the Bitcoin Name System (BNS) through the use of Decentralized Applications (dApps) and developing additional top-level domain (TLD) services. All of this progress will enable users to properly administer websites, emails, and other online activities from a single domain name on blockchain.
Trust Machines will manage Orange Domains’ development and go-to-market plans, while Hiro Systems will provide domain knowledge in Bitcoin smart contracts and digital assets, and Tucows will bring DNS and web registry experience.
“Orange Domains is going to set a critical industry standard for how domain names, identity, and Web3 coincide,” stated Dave Woroch, Tucows Domains’ CEO.
Orange Domains is one of many Web3 Bitcoin applications that aim to increase the usability of the Bitcoin network. The BNS namespace is based on Bitcoin and allows users to purchase ‘.btc’ domain names.
“Up until recently, the cryptocurrency industry has confused the narrative around Web3 digital identity services, stifling progress and expansion to new audiences,” stated Don Ruiz, General Manager of Orange Domains.
