Telegram, an Open Network (TON) blockchain-based internet chat app, has announced the debut of its advertising platform.
More than 100 nations’ Telegram channel owners will be able to start getting paid for their work in March, when the ad platform opens to all advertisers.
“We will sell advertisements and split revenue with channel owners in Toncoin, using a similar model to our approach with Telegram usernames on Fragment. According to Durov, this will establish a positive feedback loop wherein content producers can choose to either exchange their Toncoins for cash or use them to further develop and market their channels.
On February 28, Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, announced that channel owners would start to get 50% of all the money the platform makes from showing advertisements in their channels. According to the statement, payments on the Telegram Ad Platform would only be accepted via the TON blockchain.
The coin on the TON blockchain saw a 13.86% growth in value in the 24 hours leading up to 12:40 PM UTC, trading at $2.49. Over the past week, there has been a gain of over 18% in the coin. With a market valuation of $8.6 billion, TON is now the fifteenth-largest cryptocurrencycurrency, according to CoinMarketCap.
Each month, Telegram broadcast channels produce over 1 trillion views; nevertheless, only approximately 10% of these views are made possible by Telegram Ads, an advertising solution that prioritizes privacy.
