Luno exchange received regulatory certification from Africa’s financial regulator, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), on Thursday, becoming one of the country’s first authorized cryptocurrency enterprises under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) of 2002.
Luno’s country manager for South Africa, Christo de Wit, stated in a statement, “This is a positive step for both the cryptocurrencycurrency industry and South Africans.” Compliance, safety, and security for our customers have propelled our success from the start and will remain top considerations as we expand our offering to include new features and products for financial institutions.”
Luno PTY LTD is now included on the regulator’s list of permitted entities. Approximately 60 firms are anticipated to receive permission soon.
