Shrapnel, a blockchain-powered shooting game, has discovered multiple cases where users attempted to obtain an unfair advantage during rounds.
During an early access event, numerous Web3 gamers coordinated to manipulate queues and target lone players, compromising fair competition with two illegal strategies: teaming and account sharing.
Furthermore, users were found to be engaged in account sharing by accessing the same player account from several devices, showing that collaboration provided an unfair advantage.
Shrapnel warned its players that it has installed detection technologies to detect these irregularities, underlining a zero-tolerance approach against infractions of its conditions. Any players who violate these restrictions will be removed from the current leaderboard and potentially permanently banned.
They urged gamers to report any abuse as the game prepares for its general release. “It’s essential that we identify and rectify all issues before the game transitions to fully live status, especially as players begin extracting with NFTs and other digital assets.”
However, one member of the community stated that this decision “penalizes” guilds and communities that value teamwork. Shrapnel responded to this issue by clarifying that only users discovered unfairly conspiring to rise on the leaderboard would be removed, not those that played with their friends.
