Montenegrin authorities have filed a petition to stop the extradition of Do Kwon, a Terraform Labs co-founder, to South Korea. They argue that the appellate court incorrectly denied Kwon’s legal team’s appeal, and that the Supreme Court of Montenegro, not its lower court, should have rendered the decision in this matter.
Kwon was sentenced to four months in prison after being found in Montenegro in March 2023 with fake travel documents. Kwon is now in jail, and the outcome of his extradition remains unknown because Montenegrin courts are still investigating charges from both the United States and South Korea.
Kwon, a Korean citizen, may face criminal charges in connection with the Terraform Labs (TFL) controversy at his residence. The prosecution anticipates that the Supreme Court will overturn a prior ruling granting extradition to South Korea.
