A California judge named Vince Chhabria declared the dismissal of a lawsuit alleging Apple’s app store regulations violate antitrust laws.
The case, which was filed on behalf of users of the money transfer applications Venmo and CashApp, argued that Apple’s regulations were restrictive since they did not include capabilities that other apps offered, such the ability to integrate bitcoin transactions.
Since Apple had not disabled cryptocurrencycurrency features, the judge decided that the cause of action had to be dismissed for lack of evidence. Additionally, he said that while though the plaintiffs did not say which of the two applications they had used, it looked like they had used Zelle, which is a widely used money transfer service.
The complainants had twenty-one days to revise their complaints before the judge dismissed the case. In contrast, the judge expressed in his parting remarks his incredulity that the case’s inadequacies could possibly be resolved.
