The CEO of JPMorgan, Jamie Dimon, has differing opinions regarding the nature of Bitcoin. In public, Dimon has attacked Bitcoin, calling it a “drug for criminals” and drawing parallels between it and cigarettes. But by urging people to invest in it, he appears to be fanning the flames.
“I don’t know what bitcoin itself is for, but I defend your right to buy a bitcoin, just as I’ll defend your right to smoke a cigarette,” declared Dimon. Personally, I’ll never purchase bitcoin.
This viewpoint, which has been expressed by a number of people, including former National Security Agency contractor and privacy activist Edward Snowden, holds that the opposition is being false because JPMorgan makes money from its Bitcoin-related commercial ventures. Snowden said the following on his X platform account:
Though Wall Street is still largely suspicious about cryptocurrencycurrencies, Dimon is reflecting the gradual change in sentiment by naming Bitcoin as one of the potential disruptors.
