Grayscale Investments has requested that the SEC enable options trading on Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), claiming that it will benefit investors and foster fair competition with similar products.
Nate Geraci, president of ETF Store, made legal speculation following Grayscale’s petition to the SEC, which highlighted what they deemed unfair discrimination against shareholders. The SEC has also allowed trading options for ETFs linked to bitcoin futures.
Michael Sonnenshein, CEO of Grayscale, emphasizes the importance of building a robust market for options on spot Bitcoin ETFs. His main goal is to demonstrate how rapidly options for futures-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are approved, whereas regulatory barriers continue to cause delays for spot ETFs.
