On Wednesday, April 24, SlowMist, a blockchain security company, claimed that the Lazarus Group, a hacker operation located in North Korea, has been targeting employees in the cryptocurrencycurrency firm by creating phony LinkedIn profiles.
Lazarus has been a menace to the cryptocurrency space. The gang has drained nearly $3 billion from digital assets thus far. The blockchain security business revealed the unsettling news on its X account to notify consumers in a timely manner.
These phony job accounts accept offers as job searchers in blockchain development and send emails to HR personnel and hiring managers, presenting under multiple identities.
However, there is information-stealing malware designed to siphon the data of the target individuals. This malware grabs all the information from the user’s device and transfers it to a server controlled by the hacker.
The cybercriminals then entice innocent people by claiming to have nice links for demonstrating their coding talents and getting their personal information, either by offering a free logo or software.
Additionally, a new UN report has connected North Korea’s monetary escape to cyberattacks, suggesting that as much as 40% of the country’s WMD development is sustained by these actions. Security professionals, in particular, fear that well-coordinated and targeted state-sponsored strikes represent a danger to the nation’s safety.
